Flow Debate
In order to prepare yourselves for the UN Model is important that you understand how it proceeds
1. Roll Call. The chair takes attendance of the committee. When you hear your delegation's name you answer "Present and Voting".
2. Setting the Agenda. This happens if there is more than one topic to discuss during the conference. One delegate opens a motion to start with, let's say, Topic A, 3 delegates speak against it and 3 delegates speak in favor. After the speeches, there is a voting.
3. Debate.
- Speakers List. The speakers' list opens and delegations expose their speeches regarding the topic.
- Moderated caucus. Delegates are free to address the committee without being added to the list of speakers. Also, they can ask questions and comment on an issue.
- Unmoderated caucus. Delegates can walk around the room and negotiate matters with their fellow delegates. Those are often used when some important positions are negotiated, or working papers and draft resolutions are coined.
- Resolution writing. Time for delegates to start writing or sponsoring the resolution papers.
4. Resolution Voting. Delegates vote for the solution they see fit to address the issue.
